Children's Home Registered Manager - New 4-Bed Home Opening
Location: Haverhill, Suffolk
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week (including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as needed)
Salary: £53,000 base salary (up to £60,800 with performance bonuses)
I am recruiting on behalf of a well-established, Ofsted-regulated children's care provider rated "Good".
We are seeking an experienced and committed Registered Manager to launch and lead a brand-new 4-bed children's home in Haverhill, Suffolk, supporting young people aged 11-17 with complex and challenging behaviours.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the development of a new service and establish a culture of care, consistency, and positive outcomes from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
·Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance.
·Deliver child-centred care that promotes the safety, welfare, and development of each young person.
·Lead on recruitment, supervision, mentoring, and development of the home's care team.
·Ensure effective staff deployment, rotas, and availability to meet care needs, including evening and weekend cover.
·Maintain regulatory compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations, Children's Act 1989, and other relevant legislation.
·Drive improvement and innovation, setting high standards for care, safeguarding, and operational practice.
·Monitor outcomes and implement care plans and behavioural strategies to support the progress of each child.
·Maintain strong partnerships with external professionals, families, and safeguarding bodies.
·Ensure the home is ready for Ofsted inspections and works consistently toward achieving a "Good" or "Outstanding" rating.
Essential Criteria
·NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
·Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent).
·2-3 years' experience in a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager position in a residential children's care setting.
·Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, manage rotas, and handle challenging behaviour in a trauma-informed manner.
·In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, children's legislation, and Ofsted inspection frameworks.
·Confident, flexible, and resilient, with a child-centred approach to care planning and decision-making.
·Full UK driving licence and use of a vehicle.
