Social Worker – Mental Health Team
Dunstable Community Mental Health Team invites an enthusiastic and motivated Social Worker to support adults experiencing mental ill‑health within the towns of Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard.
Key responsibilities
* Provide assessment, care planning and coordination of care from a social perspective to adults accessing the service.
* Liaise with acute inpatient units, the Crisis Team, Primary Care services, voluntary and private sector and contribute to discharge planning.
* Commission health and social care services and promote a recovery‑focused model of care.
* Undertake comprehensive Care Act assessments and reviews, safeguarding enquiries and risk assessments.
* Maintain accurate records in the Electronic Patient Record.
* Support newly qualified Social Workers through supervision, the ASYE programme and, where appropriate, additional training.
* Take on duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or undertake AMHP training.
Essential qualifications
* Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
* One year of post‑qualifying experience in health or social care settings, or recent qualification with relevant pre‑qualifying experience.
* Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary, community or NHS/Local Authority environment.
* Experience attending funding panels and commissioning care packages.
* Car‑driving licence – driving between Trust sites is essential.
* Flexible working according to service needs.
Desirable qualifications
* Post‑qualification experience within mental health services.
* Previous appointment as an AMHP or Best Interest Assessor.
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and subsequent amendments.
* Degree level education or relevant specialist post‑qualifying/post‑graduate training.
Additional requirements
* Full driving licence.
