MACS is recruiting a dynamic leader to head Upstream NI, a new schools-based initiative preventing youth homelessness before crisis hits.As the Upstream NI Lead, you will play a pivotal role in delivering and scaling an innovative early intervention model designed to prevent youth homelessness across Northern Ireland.Inspired by international best practice and tailored to local needs, Upstream NI works within schools to identify young people at risk of housing instability and connect them, and their families with the right support early on. Responsibilities

* Lead the delivery of the Upstream NI programme, ensuring fidelity to the model and alignment with MACS values and strategic aims.
* Act as the key point of contact for participating schools, statutory agencies, and partner organisations.
* Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and delivery of universal screening in schools, in collaboration with educational staff.
* Ensure data collection, parental consent, and information sharing is managed safely and in line with GDPR and safeguarding best practice.
* Oversee recruitment of new team members in collaboration with HR and management
* Oversee the analysis of screening data to identify young people at risk of homelessness
* Convene and facilitate multi-agency decision-making meetings with schools and external partners.
* Ensure that support offered is person-centred, holistic, and tailored to each young person’s unique circumstances
* Coordinate community-based interventions involving mental health, family mediation, social work and other supports
* Build strong relationships with the Education Authority, Health Trusts, PHA, NIHE, and community organisations
* Use evaluation data to continuously improve delivery and inform long-term sustainability planning.
* Contribute to funding bids and strategic development as needed to expand the Upstream model.
* Ensure alignment with the NI Youth Homelessness Action Plan and broader policy context.
* Represent MACS and Upstream NI at local and national forums focused on prevention and youth homelessness.


Skills and Qualifications

* Degree-level qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Youth Work, Social Work, Education, Psychology, Community Development) OR 4 years professional experience of working directly with vulnerable young people and/or families
* Proven track record in leading programmes or services within health, education, or the voluntary sector.
* Experience managing people or teams in a supportive, values-led environment.
* Deep understanding of the causes and impact of youth homelessness and the importance of early intervention.
* Experience in using data to drive service design and decision-making.
* Skilled communicator, able to build trust with a wide range of stakeholders, including young people, families, professionals and funders.
* Confident using digital tools for data tracking, evaluation and communication.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car and access to a vehicle insured for business use is required to meet the requirements of the post in full.
* Experience working in or with schools and/or educational settings.
* Knowledge of the Northern Ireland education and care systems.
* Experience with mediation, restorative practices or family systems work.
