An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee to join our progressive, enthusiastic respiratory physiology team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Our service offers a range of respiratory investigations, including spirometry, gas transfer, lung volumes, reversibility testing, 6-minute walk tests and nebulised antibiotic challenge testing. Our sleep service offers limited respiratory sleep studies and overnight pulse oximetry with plans to expand in the future.
We are looking for a highly motivated, forward thinking team member who can demonstrate competency in performing diagnostic respiratory investigations. Training will be provided with the expectation to undertake ARTP Practitioner exam level III. You will also be encouraged to undertake a Graduate Diploma in Respiratory Physiology in conjunction with Sheffield Hallam University or UWE Bristol.
Experience and underpinning knowledge of basic lung function and investigations of sleep disordered breathing is desirable.
Responsibilities and training
* Starting salary will be paid at Agenda for Change band 4. Successful applicants will be offered a band 5 Healthcare Science Practitioner position on completion of training and clinical competencies.
* The successful candidate will be supervised when carrying out all clinical activity throughout the course of the training programme. Level of supervision may be direct or indirect as per skills and competencies.
* Duties and responsibilities listed are reflective of the training aspect of this role. This will be revised upon completion of training to align with the qualified role.
* The successful candidate will participate in and undertake (under appropriate supervision) activities in accordance with local, national and professional guidelines ensuring the rights, privacy, dignity and confidentiality of all patients are protected at all times.
