Role Purpose
The Project Engineer supports the successful delivery of infrastructure, groundworks, and tunnelling projects through technical coordination, Program management, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate engineering activities between site teams, designers, subcontractors, and clients.
* Monitor project progress against Program, cost, and quality objectives.
* Support NEC4 contract administration, early warning processes, Program reviews, and change management activities.
* Support procurement activities and subcontractor management.
* Review and manage technical queries, RFIs, and construction documentation.
* Comply with CDM 2015 regulations, company HSEQ procedures, and promote a positive safety culture across all activities.
* Assist with risk management, temporary works coordination, and permits.
* Prepare progress reports, look-ahead plans, and engineering trackers.
Technical Requirements
* Understanding of NEC4 contracts and UK infrastructure delivery models.
* Knowledge of tunnelling, deep excavation, or heavy civils construction methodologies.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and common engineering document systems.
* Understanding of QA/QC processes and inspection test plans.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction sequencing.
Experience & Qualifications
* Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
* 3–7 years of infrastructure or heavy civil engineering experience.
* SMSTS or SSSTS certification advantageous.
* Working towards Chartered Engineer status preferred.
