Medical Secretary needed for busy GP Practice based on Canvey Island with a patient population of 11K
Main duties of the job
Our GP Practice is a busy, vibrant place to work, based on Canvey island. We are looking to expand our team with an individual who can really make a difference to our patients' journey as we support them with their health needs.
It is a really busy Medical Secretary Role working closely with the Manager and GP team, supporting them and responding to tasks on their behalf.

* Be flexible with working hours
* Have excellent keyboard skills
* Have a good knowledge of Word and Excel
* Have excellent communication skills
* Have working knowledge of Primary Care/Secondary Care Referral Pathways
* Have working knowledge of Choose and Book

Job responsibilities
Medical Secretary required to provide administrative and clerical support with the Practice to ensure its smooth running.
* Handling incoming calls, mail, emails, and correspondence
* Processing referrals
* Liaise with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff
* Ensure confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulation
* Manage office supplies and general administrative tasks
* Proven experience in an administrative or secretarial role (medical setting preferred)
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Strong organizational and multitasking skill
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
* Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, medical record systems)
* Knowledge of Systm1 and Choose and book an advantage
* Attention to detail and accuracy
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working within a healthcare setting
* Experience with medical terminology
* Extensive secretarial experience, must have excellent grammar and spelling skills
* Experience with Systm1 and/or Choose and book
* Experience working in Primary Care/GP Practice
