Our dynamic, multidisciplinary R&D department has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in mechanical actuation systems and hydraulics.
The Role
As Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Hydraulics, you will interpret medical device requirements and take responsibility for originating innovative design.
You will develop complex CAD geometry, perform digital simulations, and work with a team delivering medical devices suitable for economic manufacture.
* Design hydraulic actuator systems including valve & motor control solutions according to technical requirements.
* Generate detail engineering CAD geometry, simulate dynamic motion, limits/fits and define methods of manufacture.
* Liaise with Systems engineering and clinical partners to capture user requirements, execute work packages inside product verification and validation procedures.
* Originating and maintain risk management documentation, collaborate at design and project review meetings, present technical data and recommend actions.
* Produce and maintain technical documentation, in accordance with ISO 13485, FDA and MDR requirements.
* Analyse technical requirements, evaluate approaches and support the selection of technologies, materials and components.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineer or related field.
* Proven experience operating within a CAD environment.
* Experience in safety critical or highly regulated industry.
* Extensive experience designing hydraulic actuator systems.
* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, comfortable in a fast-paced matrix organisation.
