Hours: 40 hours per week between Monday to Friday + occasional evenings/weekends when required.

Birmingham Community Leisure Trust is looking for a motivated and community-focused Community Engagement Officer to help transform our leisure centres into vibrant community hubs.
About the Role
As a Community Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in building strong relationships with local communities, voluntary organisations, and partners. You’ll help ensure our leisure centres offer more than just physical activity – creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, feel supported, and thrive.
You will work across various leisure centres in Birmingham, identifying opportunities to deliver inclusive, community-focused activities that meet the diverse needs of local residents.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations and partners
* Create and manage a comprehensive community contact database
* Identify and develop opportunities for community activities within leisure centres
* Liaise with centre staff to book and coordinate activities and sessions
* Support organisations once activities are established
* Assist with member sign-ups and site tours where required
* Identify and support applications for external grant funding
* Contribute to and lead the BCLT Sport & Community Engagement Plan
* Support centre staff with community-related queries
* Assist with advertising and promotion of activities
* Ensure equality, diversity, safeguarding, and privacy needs are understood and met

* Self‑motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple projects
* Flexible and able to work under pressure
* Confident using IT and Microsoft Office packages
* Passionate about equality, diversity, and safeguarding
Essential Requirements
* A community development qualification and/or relevant leisure/community experience
* A full, current driving licence
* Willingness to travel across Birmingham as required
