Hourly rate of pay: £16.14 - £17.24
The Home Care service operates between 07:00 and 22:00, seven days per week.
* Morning shift: 07:00–14:00
* Evening shift: 15:00–22:00
Locum care support workers are required to support our Rehab Care Team, providing care in the community and supporting service users back to their independence.
The Home Care Service provides care in the home for adults and the elderly across the whole of East Lothian who need assistance and encouragement to carry out daily living tasks.
Role Overview
The Care Support Worker plays a crucial part in ensuring service users identified needs are appropriately supported in the community. The role involves the delivery of direct personal care and the provision of assistance with both practical and emotional support to help service users remain in their own homes in accordance with individual care plans.
Care Support Workers respond sensitively and flexibly to a wide range of individual service user situations and are able to work both independently and as part of a team. They work in partnership with a variety of Health and Social Care Professionals and report directly to the Care Support Organiser.
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who have a caring nature, excellent communication skills, and experience and knowledge in working within a Health and Social Care partnership setting.
Job Details
To provide assistance, encouragement, practical and emotional support to the service user within their own home with all aspects of daily living including personal care and domestic tasks. Working in partnership with Health and Social Care professionals and the line manager, the post holder will play a key role in the care planning process, setting aims and targets for individual clients enabling them to maximise their full potential and independence.
Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
* SVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care at SCQF Level 6 and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
* If the above qualification is not held, a course of study to obtain an SVQ Level 2 qualification within the required timescale is required.
* SSSC registration is an essential requirement. If not already a member, registration must be obtained within six months of the start date.
Driving Licence
The duties of this role require effective travel. A current driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.*

PVG Membership
This post is considered regulated work with vulnerable children and protected adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020. All suitable candidates must become or update a PVG Scheme member before any formal offer is made.
