Teaching Assistant – Underley Garden School (part of Options Autism), Kirkby Lonsdale, LA6 2DZ.
We offer a 4-Day Working Week (4DWW) trial where you can work one day less each week (or equivalent hours) while receiving full-time pay. We are committed to wellbeing and staff development, with schools implementing or planning 4DWW where possible.
Salary: £22,300.00 per annum (not pro rata) plus a Welcome Bonus of £1,000. Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only. UK applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship. Candidates must have Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle to get to work.
About the role: You will join a close-knit team, supporting pupils with complex needs, primarily autism, to achieve their education goals. You will help prepare learning materials, run classroom activities, provide hands-on support, and supervise pupils. You will also support emotional and physical needs to help pupils develop as individuals and engage with the world.
About Us: Underley Garden School is a large school with small class sizes for pupils aged 5-19 with autism and related needs. We adopt a holistic, person-centred approach and provide education, care and therapy to meet individual requirements. We are part of Outcomes First Group / Options Autism, and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils. All applicants will be subject to safeguarding checks and an enhanced DBS.
Responsibilities
* Support pupils with a variety of complex needs, including autism, SEMH, ADHD, and communication differences.
* Assist with personal care duties as required (e.g., feeding, toileting).
* Prepare learning materials and run classroom activities, indoors and outdoors as needed.
* Support pupils' emotional and physical development and encourage independence.
* Work collaboratively with the teaching team to create a nurturing, inclusive environment.
* Adapt to a variety of classroom roles and learning activities based on individual needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience is desirable but not essential; a warm, enthusiastic and positive approach is valued.
* Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle (required to get to work).
* Willingness to undertake safeguarding checks and enhanced DBS.
* Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to different classroom scenarios.
