The Directorate of Laboratory Medicine encompasses Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology and Cytogenetics. The directorate provides a range of analysis of blood, body fluids and tissues for the hospital inpatient and outpatient population, local GP’s and other neighbouring trusts.
The Immunology Department undertakes investigations covering autoimmunity tests, allergy testing and protein electrophoresis.
This part‑time post works in our immunology laboratory with flexible arrangements; however, you will be required to work Thursdays, Fridays and some Saturdays.
Responsibilities
* Preparation of reagents, calibrators and controls.
* Perform daily and weekly maintenance on analysers.
* Ensure operational continuity of analysers by replenishing reagents as required.
* Receive large volumes of specimens, check information, and prepare for analysis if acceptance criteria are met.
* Perform internal and external quality assurance procedures, recognise poor performance, take simple corrective action, informing the HCPC registered BMS of un‑resolvable issues.
