and main responsibilities
·Provide support to the Risk and Governance clinical leads to develop and embed the quality governance agenda within the directorate and promote a proactive approach to involvement in all aspects of governance.
·Work alongside the clinical and non-clinical teams to facilitate improvements, leading change and progress as appropriate.
·Provide strong day to day operational management of the services delivered within the Directorate to maintain effective business, workforce and operational plans under the guidance of the Deputy General Manager and Clinical Director/Lead. Supporting Theatre planning and utilisation, cancer pathways, long waiting pathways.
·Support the good financial management of the directorate budget through effective management and use of resources e.g. staff, budget, premises, equipment, supplies and materials.
·Establish and maintain effective communication links with all directorate staff, this will vary depending on service need and appropriateness of the content being communicated.
·Provide strong day-to-day leadership ensuring staff are supporting, living and displaying the Trust’s values and behaviours.
·To assist operational support to manage administration and clerical support staff, dealing with individual and team issues as they arise.
·Develop and maintain systems and processes to ensure that work is appropriately prioritised and allocated, and that effective supervision is in place to support staff wellbeing.
·Ensure inclusiveness of all staff members in the communication of vital Trust Operational information.
·Develop channels of communication and team working to ensure that the various departments within remit work effectively together.

1. Degree or equivalent experience
2. Evidence of continuing professional development
3. Appraisal skills
4. Management/leadership qualification or experience
Desirable criteria
5. NVQ level of management training

6. 3 years working in an NHS environment
7. 3 years line management experience
8. Leading significant change processes/initiatives
9. Working with and delivering on challenging performance targets
10. Experience working as an operational manager in an acute trust

11. Working in secondary NHS care
