About the role
We have a brand-new opportunity for a Principal Sustainability Energy Consultant to join our Sustainability team based in our Bristol or Cardiff office.
It's an exciting time to join our Sustainability team. You will be working alongside a range of specialist engineers and consultants, you will be joining a collaborative, knowledgeable, highly engaged team who love what they do, and offer a supportive, flexible, and high performing work culture.
In this key and varied role, you can expect to:
1. Take ownership and deliver medium to large scale projects.
2. Support senior team members on large scale projects and take ownership of energy workstreams.
3. Lead workshops with the client and design team and communicate information in a clear and concise manor.
4. Effectively delegate, manage and review work undertaken by others.
5. Support the training and development of junior members of the team on energy workstreams (e.g. Part L, Overheating, CIBSE TM, NABERS, etc.).
6. Undertaking a range of modelling and analysis, which may include but not limited to: building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation and overheating.
7. Lead the development of energy strategies to meet client aspirations as well as respond to planning policy requirements.
8. Supporting the drive towards realising net zero whole life carbon in our projects.
9. Working with other members of the Sustainability Group on research and development initiatives to allow us to stay at the cutting edge of knowledge in our industry.
10. As well as project-related work, the Group engages directly with industry undertaking research and development studies, and authoring industry guidance. The role also presents the opportunity for involvement in this aspect of the Group’s work to those keen to have a direct influence on the industry.
About you
Project delivery and technical expertise
The advertised role is for a Principal Consultant with a particular expertise on energy related workstreams. Ideally, you will have detailed knowledge, competency and qualifications in the following fields.
11. Energy strategies
12. Building Regulations Part L assessments
13. NABERS UK modelling.
14. Experience leading or supporting a NABERS IDR for certification
15. In use energy modelling (e.g. CIBSE TM)
16. Dynamic modelling for thermal comfort assessments and overheating risk
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
17. Experience working within sustainability consultancy, you will be looking for a new challenge within a practice at the very forefront of our field.
18. Qualified and recognized in industry preferably with Chartered status or working towards.
19. You will bring expertise a passion for creating sustainable solutions.
20. You will be confident in leading sustainability workshops with design teams.
21. You will relish being part of dynamic team within a progressive and well-respected firm.
22. You will have good communication skills and an enthusiasm for working within a team environment.
23. Demonstrable experience working with clients / contractors / architects in a design oriented / consultant role.
24. Excellent organisational and planning skills to effectively work to timescales and deadlines for multiple projects at one time.
