Job description
To assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse in the smooth and effective management of the ward. To provide leadership and direction for staff within the ward/department to promote the delivery of safe and effective care. In the absence of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to be responsible for the effective management of the ward. Please see employer website for full job details & person specification.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
* Develop good interpersonal relationships with patients, relatives and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team including community staff to ensure adequate discharge planning and continuity of care.
* To establish agreed and realistic objectives for the ward and the setting of goals to achieve same.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
* A Level 1 Registered Nurse (Adult) on the live NMC Register.
* 2 years post registration experience working in a Medical / older people’s medical setting.
Desirable Skills
* Ability to apply structured methods to evaluate care and practice including audit and other service improvement processes.
