Responsibilities
* Assess the social care needs of young people and provide a quality social work service as outlined in patient care plans.
* Work with young people who have complex mental health and psychological needs.
* Use knowledge of social policy and practice to maintain a quality service for service users and families.
* Manage and supervise social work staff, leading the development and management of the social work department.
* Contribute to completion of service users’ CPA documents and provide comprehensive assessment reports when required.
* Complete focused work with individual young people using a range of interventions as part of an agreed care plan.
* Maintain contact with young people’s families, carers and/or significant others, offering support, information and, where relevant, joint family and patient sessions that are enabling.
* Promote anti‑discriminatory practice, linking individual circumstances to broader social, political, legal and cultural contexts.
* Assist the responsible Social Services Department or integrated NHS in assessing suitable after‑care placements, working across professional boundaries.
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of social work inputs to the care plan, including Section 117 care planning and transfer summaries that reflect the patient’s views.
* Administer the day‑to‑day social work department’s annual leave and sickness.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
* Registered with Social Work England.
* Minimum of 4 years post‑qualification experience.
* Experience working within a forensic or eating disorder setting.
Where You Will Be Working
Emerald Place, Farmfield Drive, Charlwood, Surrey, RH6 0BN. This is part of the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Elysium Healthcare partnership providing a new purpose‑built Tier 4 Children and Young People Mental Health Service (CYPMHS). The clinic is a 12‑bed general adolescent inpatient unit for the care and treatment of young people aged 13 to 18 with primary diagnoses of mental illness, neurodevelopmental disorders, mild learning disability, autism and disordered eating.
