Overview
I am looking for an experienced Civil Highways Engineer to support a large scale infrastructure programme on a portfolio of projects in the Inverness area.
With multiple schemes progressing from detailed design into delivery phases, this role will focus on the review and assurance of highway designs, alongside coordination of external approvals and interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
Review and assess highway engineering designs to ensure compliance with relevant technical specifications and project engineering guidance
Provide assurance that designs are practical, consistent, and suitable for construction
Act as the single point of contact with The Highland Council for all highways-related matters
Coordinate with internal technical, operational, and project stakeholders
Interface with contractors and their design consultants to align standards and ensure consistency across projects
Support the progression of designs through approval processes with the local authority
Work across multiple concurrent capital projects, ensuring quality and value are maintained throughout
Key Requirements
Strong civil engineering background with a focus on highways infrastructure
Demonstrable experience in reviewing and approving highway designs
Knowledge of Inverness / Highland road networks and local authority expectations
Proven stakeholder management experience, ideally involving local councils
Ability to act as a central coordination point across multiple projects and disciplines
