SEN & Mental Health Support Assistant
A welcoming mainstream secondary school located in Lawrence Weston, Bristol is looking for a committed Teaching Assistant with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and mental health to join their team on a long-term basis, starting immediately.

The school caters to students who present with a range of needs, including learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and communication barriers. With a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing and therapeutic support, the school is committed to nurturing both academic and personal development in every student.

Role Overview:
As a SEN & Mental Health Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings. Your focus will include assisting with learning activities, helping students manage emotional and behavioural difficulties, and encouraging personal growth. Your goal will be to empower students with the confidence, skills, and resilience needed to thrive beyond school.

You’ll also play a key part in promoting positive decision-making, improving students’ social and communication skills, and working closely with staff and external professionals. This includes collaboration with educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and counsellors — giving you valuable experience if you're considering a future in psychology, therapy, or education.

Key Details:

* Daily rate: £90 – £95 (based on experience)
* Start: ASAP
* Location: Lawrence Weston, Bristol (BS11)
* Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
* Ideal for graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or related fields

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN and mental health needs
* Assist in delivering personalised learning plans (IEPs)
* Work with teaching staff to adjust lessons and classroom resources
* Create a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere

What We’re Looking For:

* A valid DBS (or willingness to obtain one – we can help)
* A proactive, compassionate approach with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable students
