Offer description

Flexible hours, casual agreement - full and part‑time hours currently available

Addington school is part of the Ascendancy Partnership Trust, a multi‑academy trust with deep community roots across the Berkshire area composed of a family of SEN schools all specialising in learning difficulties. Our main school site is located in Woodley, Reading and we also have a smaller Early Years Centre located in Farley Hill.

We are looking to increase our bank of Supply Learning Support Assistants to work on a flexible basis to support in the classroom. We are able to offer flexible hours and working arrangements.

We are currently recruiting Supply Learning Support Assistants to work at our main school site based in Woodley and are particularly interested to hear from applicants with an interest in supporting pupils in our Access Department which offers bespoke learning to each individual pupil providing the best opportunities for developing learning, communication and social skills. The majority of learners in the Access department range from age 8 – 19 years, with a range of developmental and physical needs.

You will be providing support in the classroom to enable a high quality education for the pupils of Addington School and will be allocated to classes to cover staff absences.

Using your previous experience and knowledge of supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, you will have the ability to work 1‑2‑1 with pupils or with small groups whilst recognising that each child has specific needs. You will have the ability to adapt strategies based on pupils’ age and physical presentation. With the ability to work independently or as part of a team, you will nurture and develop pupils through careful and sensitive support and intervention and will understand the pressure and requirement that this entails.

With a flexible approach, you will have the ability to adapt to working with a range of pupils, will have a caring and positive attitude and will be committed to getting the best outcomes for our pupils.

We can offer:

* The opportunity to work in a special school judged ‘outstanding’ with a highly experienced Senior Leadership Team
* An environment committed to staff development and growing leadership
* A school with a coaching and collaborative culture
* Membership of an inclusive learning community with SEND expertise
* A school where creativity and innovation is encouraged
* Option to join Local Government Pension Scheme, Free Car Parking, Employee Assistance Programme, Staff Wellbeing Group, Flu Vaccinations, Access to Private Medical Scheme

Addington School offers an environment committed to staff development and a route into teaching for candidates looking for a stepping stone onto the SEND teacher ladder.

Please contact Amanda Cherry, HR Manager on 0118 966 9073 if you wish to discuss any further information.
