Maintenance Engineer - £44,000 + Enhanced Overtime | 4 on / 4 off | Colchester
A well-established food manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. Operating within a chilled, high-care production environment, this is a fantastic opportunity for a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to take on a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.
Working a 4 on / 4 off rotating days pattern, you will play a key part in keeping production running smoothly, responding to breakdowns, delivering planned maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime
Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules
Diagnose faults using root cause analysis and implement effective solutions
Maintain accurate maintenance records to audit-ready standards
Ensure all work complies with food safety (HACCP), hygiene, and health & safety standards
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment where required
About You
To be considered for this Maintenance Engineer role, you should have:
NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent engineering qualification
Strong multi-skilled background across electrical and mechanical disciplines
Experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
A proactive, safety-first approach with good attention to detail
Electrical fault-finding experience (preferred)

Approximately £44,000 per year based on basic hours
21 days' holiday including bank holidays
