If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Housing Allocations Team as a Housing Allocations Officer at West Berkshire Council.The RoleAs a Housing Allocations Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality housing allocation services to the residents of West Berkshire. Reporting to the Housing Allocations Team Leader, you will be responsible for:
* Processing housing applications and determining eligibility for social housing
* Conducting needs assessments and advising applicants on suitable housing options
* Managing and maintaining accurate records and databases
* Providing information and support to applicants, including conducting interviews
* Collaborating with landlords, housing providers, and other agencies to secure suitable accommodation
* Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and council policies
* Handling enquiries, complaints, and appeals in a professional manner
* In addition to the above responsibilities, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery and participate in relevant projects and initiatives.
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused individual with the following skills and attributes:
* Experience working in housing allocations, ideally within a local authority environment
* Sound knowledge of housing legislation, including the Housing Act 1996 and Equality Act 2010
* Strong assessment and decision-making skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of people
* Organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively
* Proficient in using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
* A positive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving
