The role of Front of House

As the first point of contact at Calvert Devon, you will be a friendly, enthusiastic member of the team. Whatever the request, you’ll be on hand to provide information for day visitors, residential guests, site visitors and staff.

Your work will also support the wider Guest Services Team in increasing revenue in line with pre-agreed targets and KPI’s.

What you will need

Essential

* Previous experience within a reception environment
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* To be committed to providing outstanding standards of customer service and strive to exceed customer expectations 
* To have great attention to detail and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
* To enjoy working as part of a close-knit team
* To be punctual and adaptable
* Competent in using: Microsoft Office – Word and Excel (advanced level desirable)
* To be over 18
* Your own means of transport due to our location
* To be a competent swimmer

Desirable

* Knowledge of different disabilities
* Knowledge of the Cinolla booking system

Requirements for the Post

* The successful applicant will be required to undergo and successfully pass the following training: Pool Responder, First Aid, Safeguarding
* Must be office-based
* Available to cover weekends/check-ins on a rota system

Job details

Job type: Permanent, part-time

Hours: 30 hours per week.

Start date: Immediate start available

Salary: £19,378.01 pa pro-rata (£24,222.51pa FTE)

Location: Wistlandpound, Kentisbury, Barnstaple EX31 4SJ

Closing date: Close of business 8 th February 2026

Job Description

Job Title: Front of House

Direct Reports: None

Report to: Sales & Guest Experience Manager

Liaise with: All departments

Purpose of job

· Welcome all visitors and guests to the centre and help with enquiries

· Ensure all telephone calls and emails are responded to efficiently and appropriately

· Ensure visitors and/or guests are directed to the appropriate person/place

· Ensure check-in and check-out procedures are followed

Key responsibilities

· To welcome all visitors to the centre

· Welcoming residential guests on check-in/check out

· Welcoming swimmers, riders, visitors to the site

· Assisting them with enquiries during their stay/visit

· Taking payments

General duties to include

· Dealing with any guest/visitor requests

· Answering the telephone promptly, answering queries or taking messages as appropriate

· Monitoring emails, sending responses or forwarding on to the appropriate people

· Processing and directing post, including the accurate recording of all income

· Taking swimming pool bookings

· Report on swimming pool usage

· Ensuring accurate and up-to-date record keeping for pool service level agreements

· Perform swimming pool checks

· General administration

· Leading on bookings administration for day visits

· Assist the Finance Manager with cashing up, cash handling and relevant Sage processes.

· Relationship building with families and individuals to secure repeat business

General

· Assist the Bookings Administrators with taking and managing bookings when required

· Assist the Head of Guest Services where required

· Swimming pool, Menvi call and fire panel emergency response requirements

· To participate in internal and external training appropriate to the role

· Provide assistance to other members of the immediate and wider team as required

· To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested to ensure the smooth running of the organisation
