Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse based in the Milford Haven District Nursing Team. The post holder must have previous community experience and have completed the Specialist Practitioner Qualification in District Nursing (SPQ).
This role offers the chance to support or manage a delegated caseload within the Community Nursing Team, providing high-quality and complex care management to patients in their homes, under the guidance of an experienced District Nurse Team Leader.
The post holder will ensure high standards of care are delivered to patients and their families/carers within the home or clinic environment, liaising with staff, patients, carers, and other agencies to ensure appropriate delegation, risk management, and effective communication.
Alongside Band 6 District Nurse colleagues, you will deputise for the Band 7 District Nurse Team Leader in operational, professional, quality, clinical, and resource management duties.
Main duties of the job
You will:
1. Combine clinical practice with shift coordination and leadership responsibilities supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
2. Support and work alongside the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, including deputising in their absence.
3. Provide supervisory management and strong clinical leadership, demonstrating emotional intelligence to support staff in a complex community environment.
4. Offer professional nursing leadership and guidance (in line with NMC standards), manage caseloads, and monitor activities to ensure high standards of nursing care.
5. Collaborate with team members and the wider community MDT to support junior colleagues and meet local public health needs.
Knowledge of Welsh is desirable; applications from English and Welsh speakers are equally welcome.

Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse (Part 1)
* Current NMC Registration
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
* Postgraduate diploma or equivalent, with a willingness to undertake further postgraduate study (SPQ required for District Nursing)
* Bronze IQT
Desirable criteria
* Teaching qualification or equivalent
* Recognised management qualification
* Community Nurse Prescriber
Experience
Essential criteria
* Community/specialty experience and sound knowledge
* Understanding of NMC Code (2015)
