Description
The Senior EICA Design Engineer role involves applying extensive engineering knowledge and leadership skills to manage complex projects and guide technical teams. This position requires independent judgment, advanced problem-solving, and the ability to adapt engineering practices to meet project objectives. Responsibilities include overseeing scopes, schedules, and budgets, ensuring compliance with standards, and promoting sustainability principles throughout the project lifecycle. The role also demands strong communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and represent the organization professionally.
Key Responsibilities
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
Independently applies extensive and diverse knowledge of EICA engineering principles and practices across broad areas of assignments and related fields.
Modifies or extends accepted theories and practices to complete complex assignments.

Actively promotes consideration of sustainability principles throughout the design lifecycle.
Keeps informed of updates to standards, regulations, and best practices.
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads tasks and projects of moderately complex scope or major project components.
Designs complete projects, systems, components, or processes.
Develops EICA specifications, drawings, and other project documents.
Reviews complete project documentation for compliance and quality assurance.
Analyzes complex engineering projects to determine design requirements, uncertainties, and constraints.
Formulates solutions for unconventional or challenging engineering problems.
Assists upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor.
SCHEDULE, PROJECT & TASK MANAGEMENT
Develops work plans with resource-loaded schedules, scopes, and budgets.
Performs basic schedule analysis and assesses project risks.
Reviews and monitors scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
Leads tasks on major projects or multiple projects of moderate scope with complex features.
Proactively implements change management practices and assesses the commercial impact of decisions.
MANAGEMENT, SUPERVISION & GUIDANCE
Supervises all staff necessary to complete assignments.
Mentors direct reports and other engineers, providing guidance and reviewing work outputs.
Receives supervision and guidance on overall objectives, critical issues, and policy matters.
Provides direction on unusual conditions and developments.
COMMUNICATION, TEAMWORK & LEADERSHIP
Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and contractual language.
Communicates professionally with colleagues, clients, and design partners.
Leads project meetings and represents the organization in communications related to engineering assignments.

Essential
Higher Education (NVQ+)Desirable
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
Incorporated/Chartered Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution
CSCS Card or SHEA Water Qualification
EUSR Water Hygiene Qualification
Experience
Typically 7+ years of engineering experience, including project leadership and technical oversight.
