We now have an opportunity for a reliable and hardworking Domestic Assistant to join our team at Sedgefield Community Hospital on a fixed-term basis. About the Role As a Domestic Assistant, you will deliver a high-quality cleaning service within ward and clinical areas at Sedgefield Community Hospital. Working to NHS National Cleaning Standards and local cleaning schedules, you will help maintain a safe, hygienic and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and colleagues. This is a site-based role at Sedgefield Community Hospital only. No travel between sites is required. Full training will be provided. Salary is £25,272 Pro rata. Who You Are You are dependable, conscientious and take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness in a healthcare environment. You work well as part of a team, follow procedures carefully and understand the importance of your role in supporting patient care. You will bring: A positive, conscientious approach to work The ability to follow procedures and work to set rotas Good communication skills A willingness to learn and undertake training Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential - full training will be provided. Key Responsibilities Deliver cleaning services in line with NHS Property Services standards and schedules Maintain clean and hygienic ward and clinical environments to support infection prevention Carry out duties such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting and cleaning sanitary ware and internal glass Undertake periodic and deep cleaning tasks as required Safely handle and dispose of clinical and commercial waste Use cleaning equipment and materials safely, following COSHH guidance Replenish consumables such as soap, hand towels and toilet tissue Follow NHS colour-coding systems and cleaning specifications Report incidents, hazards, faulty equipment or maintenance issues using agreed processes Can handle routine tasks and social interactions within a work environment. Ability to absorb policy and guidance necessary for the role. Hours and Working Pattern 30 hours per week Fixed-term contract: 3 months Shift times: 6:00am - 2:00pm Two-week rota including weekends Example rota pattern: Week 1: Saturday, Sunday, Monday (working) - off Tuesday - working Wednesday & Thursday Then off: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday Pattern then repeats Applicants do not need to drive, as the role is based at one site only.
