The Role
We’re looking for a dual‑skilled field service engineer, who brings solid electrical expertise and a second core skill such as mechanical or instrumentation.
This is a hands‑on role in our Kendal production team, where you’ll be working in a fast‑paced, modern environment maintaining and improving critical water assets. You’ll need to be confident across both disciplines, ready to tackle a wide range of maintenance tasks and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.
If you’re already flexi‑skilled and thrive on variety, challenge and technical problem‑solving, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
Responsibilities will include delivering proactive planned maintenance and responsive support across your area of expertise, helping us meet key compliance and environmental standards, and contributing to both capital and operational projects.
Accountabilities
* Carry out planned preventive and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and, where trained, on mechanical equipment to ensure asset reliability and performance.
* Support the delivery of compliance and safety standards, including statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Work independently and as part of a team to diagnose and resolve faults efficiently, minimising downtime.
* Participate in the development programme to build mechanical capability if joining with an electrical‑only background.
* Contribute to capital and operational project work, ensuring assets are installed, maintained and commissioned to the highest standards.
* Maintain accurate and timely maintenance records and report any issues using the appropriate systems.
* Support the optimisation of asset performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Work safely and confidently in confined spaces, following all relevant health and safety procedures.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders to support a collaborative working environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
* A full UK driving licence is required for this role as travel to other sites may be required.
* Recognised qualifications in both disciplines (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
* Proven experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding and repair within an industrial or utilities environment, alongside competency in a second discipline such as mechanical, instrumentation or control systems.
* A strong awareness of health, safety and environmental standards, with the ability to work safely in high‑risk environments.
* Good problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Willingness and capability to develop mechanical skills if not already multi‑skilled – training will be provided.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with colleagues, contractors and other stakeholders.
* Basic IT skills to input maintenance data and complete work records accurately.
Benefits
* Salary £38,462 - £44,320
* Generous annual leave package of 26 days, increasing to 30 days after four years of service and one day per year thereafter, plus 8 bank holidays.
* Competitive pension scheme with up to 14% employer contribution, 21% combined, and life cover.
* Up to 7.5% performance‑related bonus scheme, and recognition awards for outstanding achievements.
* Comprehensive healthcare plan through our company‑funded scheme.
* Gym/wellness discounts (up to 25% off).
* Access to Best Doctors and employee assistance plan.
* Salary finance, wealth‑at‑work, share‑buying and flexible benefits.
* Enhanced parental leave schemes.
