Design Manager : Construction Manchester (Hybrid) GBP5m:GBP10m Projects

Our client, a highly respected and established construction firm known for delivering diverse and impactful projects, is actively seeking a talented Design Manager to join their growing team. This is a pivotal role for an individual looking to manage the full design lifecycle for exciting schemes across various sectors.
About The Opportunity
This full:time position is based out of a modern Manchester office, with essential travel to project sites across the region. Youll be instrumental in overseeing the entire design process for projects typically valued between GBP5 million and GBP10 million. This role offers significant responsibility, contributing directly to the successful delivery of complex developments.
Working closely with the Head of Design or Construction Manager, youll be the central figure in ensuring designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while fostering seamless communication among all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
As The Design Manager, You Will
* Lead Design Coordination: Orchestrate the design development and management across multiple construction projects, ensuring concepts align with project goals and client expectations.
* Quality Assurance: Oversee design drawings, specifications, and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and full compliance with regulations.
* Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for all design:related queries, facilitating clear communication between clients, architects, engineers, and contractors.
* Risk and Budget Management: Proactively identify potential design risks, recommend effective solutions, and ensure all design work is completed within agreed budgets and timelines.
* Approval Management: Manage the design approval process, securing all necessary permits and approvals prior to construction commencement.
* Collaborate and Present: Organise and attend design review meetings, providing expert feedback and solutions, and assist with preparing project reports for senior management and clients.
What Were Looking For
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced Design Manager with a proven track record of excellence in the construction sector.
Essential Requirements
* Demonstrable experience as a Design Manager or in a similar leadership role within the construction industry.
* Specific experience managing projects valued between GBP5 million and GBP10 million.
* A strong understanding of comprehensive design processes, project management techniques, and various construction methods.
* Proven ability to effectively manage and coordinate multiple design teams and stakeholders.
* A proactive approach to identifying potential design risks and implementing robust solutions.
Highly Desirable
* Chartered status (e.g., RIBA, ICE, CIOB) or actively working towards it.
* Experience across a variety of project types.
