Agriculture Regulatory Inspection Officer – West Midlands
We are recruiting multiple Officers in the West Midlands Area to undertake regulatory inspections of farms focusing on the River Wye and other Protected Areas. Agricultural practices can cause significant pollution to our water environment, and you will work with farmers to increase compliance with existing environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out targeted farm inspections in the catchments such as the River Wye, River Mease, River Clun and others.
* Engage with farmers to influence changes in practice, often involving difficult conversations.
* Collect data and produce reports on findings.
* Be willing to undertake regulatory enforcement action when required, including prosecutions and the serving of notices.
Experience & Skills
* Experience working with farmers, UK farms, the agriculture sector or other regulation.
* Understanding of the complexities and challenges of working UK farms.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Ability to have challenging conversations.
Requirements
* Full UK driving licence.
* IT skills (Microsoft Office – Word and Excel); comfortable using an iPad and a laptop on a daily basis and ability to input inspection findings into systems.
* Understanding and willingness to undertake enforcement action where necessary.
* Willingness to travel throughout the West Midlands and to work at least 40% of the time away from home in one of the following offices: Tewkesbury, Kidderminster, Shrewsbury, Stafford, Lichfield, Birmingham.
Work Environment
These are hybrid roles based at any of our offices across West Midlands. Vehicle transport will be provided to allow site inspections.
