Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help deliver our regulatory responsibilities as the Enforcement Authority for the Reservoirs Act 1975 in England. The Reservoirs Act helps to ensure the safe operation and management of dams. This role is part of the Compliance and Monitoring team within the Reservoir Regulation department, in the Environmental Assessment and Reservoir Regulation directorate.
This is a part-time job share (22.2 hours per week). The role is national and based at an Environment Agency office; some travel and overnight stays will be required.
Responsibilities
* Monitor compliance with the Reservoirs Act 1975 for the 2140 reservoirs in England.
* Manage day-to-day correspondence.
* Record incoming documentation on the database to ensure records are accurate and up to date.
* Encourage compliance when reports or certificates are not received as expected.
* Be the first point of contact for reservoir owners and panel engineers.
* Provide information and advice on the requirements of the Act.
Team and travel
You will join the Environmental Assessment and Reservoir Regulation department. The Reservoir Regulation team is a nationally dispersed team of 25+ members responsible for regulation of large raised reservoirs in England; some travel and overnight stays will be required.

This role is part-time (22.2 hours per week) and national, so you can be based at any Environment Agency office. Training and incident response duties are an essential part of working for the Environment Agency. Interviews will be conducted remotely on Microsoft Teams during the week commencing 06 October 2025.
