Are you a Temporary Works Design Engineer with strong experience delivering complex temporary works solutions?Looking to lead high-profile projects across London and the Thames Valley within fast-paced, reactive environments?
We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works specialist to take technical ownership of design delivery, mentor engineers and drive best practice across multiple projects.
The Role
You will lead the design and coordination of temporary works solutions across construction and infrastructure projects. This is a senior technical role combining hands-on design, project leadership and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of temporary works including formwork, falsework, access scaffolding, propping, excavation support and bespoke steel/timber solutions
Ensure full compliance with BS 5975, Eurocodes, British Standards and UK Health & Safety regulations
Prepare and review technical reports, structural calculations and design proposals
Take ownership of multiple projects, managing programme, priorities and client expectations
Undertake site visits to assess constraints, provide engineering guidance and resolve technical issues
Collaborate with contractors, site teams and multidisciplinary engineers to ensure safe, efficient delivery
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across the team
Drive continuous improvement in temporary works design processes and standards
About You
BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards ICE/IStructE accreditation desirable
8+ years' experience in temporary works design
Strong background in structural supports, scaffolding, formwork, falsework and excavation systems
Proficient in AutoCAD, TEKLA, SCIA, Tedds and structural analysis software
In-depth knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and temporary works best practice
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Confident communicator, able to present technical solutions clearly to clients and stakeholders
Proven ability to lead projects and support junior team development
Working Pattern
A blend of office-based design work in Reading and site visits across London and the Thames Valley, with occasional travel as required.
