Job Description
As a Business Development Manager, you will work to develop and improve the Company’s position and achieve financial growth in line with the long-term strategic goals of Great Bear. Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, you will play a pivotal role in the on-going development and management of existing contracts and the expansion and growth within Great Bear.
Your primary function will be to prospect for new clients through networking and other means of generating interest. With this you should be able to demonstrate an extensive portfolio of successful contract negotiations with key contacts and relations within the warehousing and distribution sector.
Strategic planning is key to the critical success of this role and in line with developing a pipeline of new business coming into the Company, you will be required to ensure a thorough knowledge of the industry, its competitors and the solutions and services that the Company can provide.

Role Responsibilities:
New Business Development:
1. Active ‘hunting’ for new prospects / potential new clients
2. Secure new business in line with the Company growth plan
3. Identify potential clients and decision makers, building working relationships of trust and confidence
4. Promote and represent the Company brand and its values to differentiate the Company and its services from our competitors
5. Present to potential new clients, whilst working with the wider team and other areas of the business to develop proposals that meet the client’s needs and objectives
6. Produce written customer proposals
Business Development Planning:
7. Attend industry associated events and conferences to obtain information on the market and creative trends
8. Work closely with the Senior Management Teams to consult and explore the development of new business services
9. Identify opportunities for campaigns and services to present to new and existing clients.
10. Use knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop the Company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
Management & Research:
11. Understand the Company’s goal and purpose to enable continual enhancement of the Company’s performance
12. Research and develop a thorough understanding of the Company, it’s services, it’s people and capabilities
13. Produce reports and documentation to present to the Board, Senior Management Teams and the Companies clients
14. Work with various areas of the business to forecast and budget to ensure accurate commercial submissions
15. Monitor and identify developments and opportunities within the industry to allow the Company to refine and hone propositions
Qualifications
16. Successful track record as a ‘hunter’ of new prospects
17. Previous experience of working in a Business Development role with significant experience in the Third Party Logistics sector
18. Experienced in dealing with Senior Management, key stakeholders and client’s up to and including Board level
19. Experienced in the writing of proposals and tender documents which are both creative and compelling
20. A highly confident and proactive individual able to represent the Company and client
21. Capable of working under pressure to critical deadlines and objectives
22. Technically competent in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel
23. Strong communication skills both written and verbal
