The Role
As Lead Teacher, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring learners aged 14–19 receive the tailored education and support they need to thrive. This isn’t a mainstream teaching post, it's a chance to bring your creativity, leadership and commitment into a setting that values flexibility, innovation and strong student relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
*
Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons in ESOL two days per week
*
Create an inspiring learning environment with high expectations for all learners
*
Plan lessons and develop schemes of work tailored to individual learner needs
*
Personalise learning through effective assessment and intervention strategies
*
Engage parents and carers in learner progress
*
Monitor learner outcomes and ensure continuous improvement through data-led decision-making
Leadership and Management
*
Lead and support a team of educators and support staff
*
Drive high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across the provision
*
Provide coaching, development and performance management for team members
*
Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing policies are consistently followed
*
Lead behaviour management approaches across the site
*
Work collaboratively with external agencies and internal stakeholders
About You
We’re looking for a confident, compassionate and experienced teaching professional who can lead a team while remaining hands-on in the classroom.
Essential Criteria
*
Recognised teaching qualification (QTS or working towards it)
*
Strong experience in lesson planning and curriculum delivery
*
Proven success working with young people with a range of support and learning needs
*
Strong safeguarding knowledge and behaviour management skills
*
Previous experience leading or mentoring staff
*
Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills
*
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally
Desirable
*
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) qualification
*
Experience working with learners who have struggled in mainstream education
*
Understanding of vocational pathways or Study Programmes
