Position: SEN Inclusion Room Officer Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Start Date: As soon as possible Location: Northamptonshire We are looking for a calm, compassionate, and proactive SEN Inclusion Room Officer to join our pastoral and SEND support team. This role is vital in helping students with additional needs to regulate, reflect, and reintegrate positively into school life through targeted intervention and support. The Inclusion Room Officer will oversee the day-to-day running of the school's inclusion space, providing a safe, structured, and supportive environment for pupils who are struggling to access mainstream classrooms due to social, emotional, or behavioural needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting emotional regulation, promoting positive behaviour, and fostering resilience and self-esteem in students. Key Responsibilities: Manage the SEN Inclusion Room and ensure it is a calm, safe, and productive space. Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEND, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, or those requiring behavioural support. Work closely with the SENDCo, pastoral team, and teaching staff to implement individual support strategies. Monitor, record, and report on student progress and behaviour while in the inclusion room. Support pupils in regulating their emotions and developing positive coping strategies. Contribute to the reintegration of pupils back into the classroom environment. Develop strong, supportive relationships with pupils and maintain high expectations. Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies as required. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or behavioural needs in an educational or support setting. A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional support. The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students while maintaining clear boundaries. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A commitment to inclusion and supporting vulnerable learners. Training in de-escalation, trauma-informed practice, or emotional regulation strategies (desirable but not essential). Why Join Us?
