Vacancy Overview

Are you looking for a career that is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development, and where you can truly make a difference? Join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the UK’s most exciting and largest megaprojects.

Building on the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project has secured planning approval and Government financing support and has now commenced construction. The project is seeking private investment and, once completed, will generate dependable low carbon electricity for six million homes for 60 years — supporting the UK’s Net Zero 2050 ambitions.

About the opportunity:

Sizewell C is a cornerstone of the UK’s future energy strategy. As the second of the next generation nuclear power stations, its scale and complexity require robust leadership and excellence in engineering and delivery.

The Rail Delivery Manager will lead the safe, coordinated, and efficient delivery of major rail infrastructure forming part of the Off Site Delivery sub programme within the SZC Site Delivery Programme. This includes developing and executing the implementation plan for rail projects to ensure delivery against cost, schedule, quality, and safety targets.

You will oversee the full lifecycle of these projects — from investigation and design through procurement, enabling works, construction, commissioning, and handover.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Define work scope and manage interfaces with other programme areas

2. Secure and coordinate project resources, maintaining SQEP standards and identifying capability gaps

3. Develop integrated, multi disciplinary solutions that meet implementation plan requirements

4. Maintain effective stakeholder communication and represent the project in external forums

5. Drive safe delivery on time, within budget, and to technical and sustainability requirements

6. Track progress against milestones, budgets, and deadlines; report to senior stakeholders

7. Identify and manage risks, resolve issues, and implement change controls for allocated projects

8. Ensure Level 3 schedules are developed, maintained, and aligned with Level 1 and Level 2 schedules

9. Review contractor Level 3 schedules and 16 week rolling programmes

10. Maintain the List of Deliverables (LOD) for allocated scopes

11. Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and support continuous improvement

12. Capture lessons learned and promote knowledge sharing

13. Coordinate interfaces with adjacent projects and ensure alignment with wider programme objectives

14. Ensure contract requirements are fulfilled, assured, and supported through audits as needed

Here's What You'll Need:

15. Proven track record delivering multi disciplinary rail projects in complex, regulated environments (nuclear or similar advantageous) through full lifecycle from concept to handover

16. Experience developing and delivering engineering design, contract strategies, and construction execution plans

17. Strong background in EPCM project environments

18. Expertise in procurement and management of complex contracts

19. Competence in environmental requirement implementation

20. Proficient in cost, risk, schedule, and change control, including Earned Value Management

21. Experience managing commercial claims and negotiations

22. Demonstrated success engaging stakeholders such as Network Rail, ORR, local authorities, internal engineering teams, contractors, and community groups

23. Ability to lead multi disciplinary teams and manage project interfaces

24. Working knowledge of key railway and Network Rail standards (, GRIP, Engineering Management for Projects, AMP, DWWP)

25. Strong project management, financial management, and change control skills

26. Skilled user of estimating, scheduling, and risk management tools

27. Experience managing contractors and consultants under NEC contracts

28. Excellent analytical and numerical capability

29. Able to work effectively with project data systems (Outlook 365, MS Teams, A-Site, Teamcenter, BIM models, GIS)

Qualifications

30. Degree-qualified with chartered status in engineering, construction, or a related discipline

31. Good knowledge of CDM Regulations

32. Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification

33. Appropriate CSCS certification
