Pastoral Support Worker
Full-time | Fixed-term contract

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: Dependent on skills and experience
We are looking to appoint a committed and proactive Pastoral Support Worker (Level 3) to join our Alternative Provision team on a fixed-term basis. This is a full-time role for someone who is confident working with young people, brings energy and enthusiasm to their work, and has a flexible, solution-focused approach.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting students who may be experiencing social, emotional or behavioural challenges, helping them to re-engage with learning and make positive choices.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will:
Provide daily pastoral support to students facing barriers to learning
Promote inclusion by supporting the development of communication, social and independence skills
Support students to regulate behaviour and develop positive attitudes to learning
Work collaboratively as part of a team responding to challenging behaviour
Deliver structured interventions to support behaviour, attendance and social development
Monitor and record the impact of interventions and support strategies
Liaise with teaching staff, parents/carers and external agencies to ensure appropriate support is in place
Person Specification
We are seeking someone who can:
Work under direction to support pupils who require targeted help
Assist with supervision of pupils and contribute to effective behaviour management
Support and supervise pupils who are removed from their normal timetable
Motivate and challenge pupils while building confidence and self-esteem
Consistently promote positive social communication
Support pupils’ personal, social and emotional development
Encourage independence and independent learning skills
Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to support progress and outcomes
Undertake reasonable duties as directed to support pupil wellbeing
Accompany pupils on educational visits and off-site activities when required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
