A high-achieving secondary school in High Wycombe is seeking an exceptional Head of Physics to lead a thriving and well-equipped department. The successful candidate will be passionate about developing high-level scientific understanding and inspiring curiosity across all key stages.
About the Role
You will lead curriculum planning, deliver outstanding lessons across KS3–5, and oversee practical learning through hands-on experiments and innovative teaching strategies. You’ll also mentor early career teachers and liaise with SLT on science strategy and progress data.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Physics curriculum at KS3–KS5
*
Drive improvements in pupil progress and attainment
*
Ensure robust assessment and tracking of student outcomes
*
Develop enrichment opportunities including STEM events and Olympiads
*
Support cross-curricular links and wider science faculty priorities
The Ideal Candidate
*
QTS and a degree in Physics or closely related subject
*
Previous departmental or team leadership experience
*
Strong understanding of curriculum, pedagogy, and exam board specifications
*
Commitment to student success and science outreach
