Your new role
You will have experience of working as a Teaching Assistant with SEND children, particularlymunication and interaction difficulties. You must be patient, caring, supportive and willing to work with amitted staff team. The ability to work andmunicate well with parents is essential for this post. Reporting to the Primary Phase Headteacher and SENDCO/Director of Inclusion, the duties will include:
1. Having an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the needs of all the pupils on the SEND register under themunication and interaction area of need.
2. Building and maintaining successful relationships with students, treating them consistently, with respect and consideration.
3. Liaising with teachers, TAs and LSAs who work with pupils within this area of need to ensure the correct support is put in place.
4. Ensuring Quality First teaching strategies are in place for pupils within this area of need and support teachers with this process.
5. Monitoring the Assess, Plan, Do, Review process for these pupils and any interventions put in place.
6. Tracking and monitoring pupils under the social, emotional and mental health area of need and analysing the impact of support in place, providing regular updates to the SENDCO.
7. Working with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary.
You will have:
8. Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher
9. At least 3 years’ experience in supporting children’s learning within the area of SEND
10. Good numeracy and literacy skills
11. The ability tomunicate well with colleagues and parents
12. The ability to work well within a supportive teamwork structure
13. The ability to take direction but be prepared to take initiative when required
14. Creativity and imagination showing an ability to adapt teaching styles to the needs of pupils
15. Sound ICT skills
16. Natural authority
