Position: Network Engineer Location: Wokingham (3 days onsite, 2 days from home) Day Rate: £460 p.d inside IR35 SC Clearance Required
Were supporting a central government department seeking an experienced Network Engineer to deliver secure, reliable network services across a complex environment.
Role Overview:
* Design, configure, and deploy LAN/WAN/WLAN/VPN solutions.
* Monitor and optimise network performance.
* Implement and maintain firewalls, IDS/IPS, and access controls.
* Maintain accurate network documentation and diagrams.
* Collaborate with IT teams and vendors on infrastructure projects.
* Perform hardware/software upgrades and patching.
* Respond to network outages and security incidents.
Skills & Experience:
* Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP.
* Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar network hardware.
* Familiarity with firewalls and security appliances.
* Experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios).
* Cloud networking exposure (AWS/Azure) is a plus.
* Relevant certifications (CCNP, Network+, or equivalent)
