Job Description

Sewell Wallis is excited to be working with a leading manufacturing business who are based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Due to increased workload load they are looking for a Finance Supervisor who will supervise an Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Assistant. The role will initially be a 6-month contract but could potentially get extended.\n\nThe right candidate will be an experienced Accountant who has at least 1-2 years of supervisory experience.\n\nWhat will you be doing?\n\nSupervise daily operations of the account's ledger team, including both accounts payable and receivable functions.\nEnsure all ledger entries are accurately recorded and reconciled with supporting documentation.\nReview and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and account adjustments.\nMaintain the general ledger and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing activities.\nMonitor aged debtors and creditors reports and ensure timely follow-ups or payments.\nThe Finance Supervisor will assist with the preparation of financial statements and audit schedules.\nEnsure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.\nIdentify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.\nProvide training, guidance, and performance feedback to ledger team members.\nLiaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve ledger discrepancies.What skills are we looking for?\n\n3-5 years of experience in an accounting role, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity (ideally in a similar Finance Supervisor role).\nStrong understanding of accounting principles, ledger management, and financial reporting.\nProficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar).\nExcellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.\nHigh attention to detail and accuracy.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nExperience in a medium to large organisation or shared services environment.
