Job objectives and responsibilities
· To perform the duties of a Detainee Custody Officer in line with contractual requirements, legislation and company standards.
· To maintain high standards of security and safety whilst ensuring the welfare and decency of residents .
· To promote and deliver meaningful regimes activities within the sportshall and gym ensuring contractual compliance and a safe and seucre environment.
Main duties and accountabilities
· Supervise activities within the sporthall and gym ensuring a safe and secure environment is maintained and residents needs are met.
· Organise, promote and deliver events and competitions to residents within the sporthall and gym to provide meaningful activities that meet their needs.
· Use, handle, transport and store equipment and materials securely and correctly at all times to ensure a safe and secure environment.
· Notify relevant staff of stock levels so that the availability of materials is maintained.
· Support the production of the monthly in house magazine so that it is interesting, inclusive and informative.
· Engage with and manage residents in activities promoting and protecting their rights in compliance with legislation and company policies and procedures ensuring they are held securely in a safe and decent environment.
· Maintain high standards of security and safety at all times, promoting an environment of positive behaviour that supports the welfare of residents and staff.
· Support and participate in the delivery of activities across regimes, encouraging resident participation, so that a full and professional service is delivered at all times.
· Deal with inappropriate behaviour to ensure a safe and secure environment.
· Participate in the control of incidents and emergencies to ensure their swift resolution.
· Complete all documentation and administration in line with company policies so that accurate contractually compliant data is maintained.
· Communicate information to and about residents, engendering positive, professional relationships with all residents whilst maintaining the security and safety of the Centre.
Person Specification
· An NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification is required.
· Previous experience or qualifications in sports or activity-based areas is an advantage as would experience of animating and motivating groups of individuals whilst dealing sensitively with people who have been agitated, confused or angry.
· A willingness to undertake all mandatory as required is vital.
