Assistant File Handler - Asbestos

Description
To assist Lead File Handler in handling predominantly Asbestos, Noise and HAVS claims. To manage and progress claims for the Lead File Handler in accordance with the strategies and action plan as determined by the Lead File Handler.
Key Responsibilities
* Reviewing documents and preparing reports
* Dealing with disclosure
* Reviewing evidence (including medical / personnel records/ Companies House records)
* Conducting investigations with Insured / obtaining witness statements
* Instructing Counsel / Experts
* Research
* Drafting generally
* Attending conferences and Trials with Counsel
* Dealing with routine correspondence
* Court appointments including own advocacy
* Providing initial reports and further reports / advice to clients, when requested
* Liaising directly with the Claims Handlers and Managers
* Complying with Clients instructions
* Willing to engage in Client development when required
* Assisting team in achieving goals and objectives
* Meeting agreed targets
* To ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Technically proficient in handling and/or assisting on disease-litigated cases, including Asbestos, NIHL and HAVS.
* Effective negotiator
* Ability to use own initiative
* Flexibility in relation to tasks undertaken

* Ability to maintain concentration and pay attention to detail
* Ability to self-organise and self-prioritise
* Ability to work under pressure and to target
