Precision Components Ltd is a world leader in the manufacture and supply of high-precision compressor rotors, and we have an exciting opportunity for a capable and proactive Manufacturing Buyer to join our team. This is a standalone role, where you’ll take ownership of the buying function, supported by well-established procedures and systems that make the role efficient and rewarding. You’ll be part of a friendly and collaborative team, working closely with engineering and production colleagues to source raw materials, consumables, tooling, and subcontractor services that keep our CNC Machine Workshop running smoothly. Job Purpose: To manage procurement activities and subcontractor services, ensuring alignment with technical specifications, production schedules, and supplier performance standards. Responsibilities: • Source and purchase raw materials, consumables and tooling from best source on competitive terms • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to support procurement decisions • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers • Maintain and optimise supplier relationships • Use ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing workflows • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to forecast demand and resolve supply issues • Manage outsourcing of sub-contract work, • Ensure supplies meet quality standards and resolve any supplier issues. Requirements: • Proven experience in a technical or engineering buying role • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials • Most advantageous would be experience working in a component manufacturing environment • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle) • Excellent negotiation and communication skills • Detail-oriented with strong organisational abilities You may have experience in the following: Buyer, Procurement Specialist, Technical Buyer, Engineering Buyer, Tooling Buyer, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, ERP, MRP, Manufacturing, CAD, CNC, Production Planning, etc. Salary: Competitive Location: Rochdale, Greater Manchester (OL16 3LQ) Contract: Full time, Permanent Hours: 37 per week, 4 ½ days, Mon – Thurs 7:45 to 16:30_Fri 7:45 to 11:45 Benefits: • 6% employer-matched pension • 4x basic life assurance • 25 holidays per year increasing to 30 with service, plus bank holidays • Employee Assistance Programme • Company Sick Pay Scheme • Service Recognition Scheme • Cash Health Plan • Gift at Christmas We offer an excellent benefits package and support work-life balance with an 11:45 finish on Friday.
