We are currently seeking a dedicated Electronics Assembly Technician to join our client, a recognised manufacturer of scientific equipment near Southampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling PCB-based products and cable assemblies in accordance with detailed drawings and specifications. The role involves hand-soldering SMT and some through-hole components, wiring, mechanical integration of subassemblies, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Candidates will also support the testing and repair of electronics, update technical documentation, and collaborate with engineers on new product introductions or prototypes. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a strong background in electronics with experience in PCB assembly, wiring, fault-finding, and rework, adhering to standards. Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 is highly desirable, along with the ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams accurately.
Proven experience in electronics assembly, soldering, and wiring techniques
Ability to interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
Experience in fault-finding and component rework on PCB assemblies
Manual dexterity and meticulous attention to detail
Basic knowledge of test equipment and electronics testing procedures (preferable)
Training or certification in IPC standards (preferred)
Experience within scientific instrumentation or R&D environments (advantageous)
