Are you a creative, nurturing teacher who thrives in small-group settings? Our specialist SEN school in Wavertree is seeking a passionate Class Teacher to lead engaging, activity-based learning for pupils working at a lower academic level.
About the Role
You’ll teach small classes of no more than 8 pupils, aged 4–11, with a range of special educational needs including autism, learning difficulties, and developmental delay. The curriculum is highly practical, focusing on basic numeracy, phonics, and life skills through play, sensory exploration, and structured routines.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Delivering a personalised, play-based curriculum tailored to individual EHCPs
2. Using creative approaches to teach early numeracy, phonics, and communication
3. Embedding social skills, independence, and emotional regulation into daily routines
4. Leading cooking, art, outdoor play, and sensory activities to support holistic development
5. Working closely with support staff and therapists to ensure consistent, high-quality care
What We’re Looking For
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
7. Experience teaching children with SEND, ideally in small-group or specialist settings
8. Confidence planning and delivering differentiated lessons for pupils working below age-related expectations
9. Warm, patient, and adaptable approach to behaviour and communication
10. Commitment to inclusive, child-centred education
