An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research Nursing team, based at the Lister Hospital.
The role is people focused involving recruiting participants into a wide range of research studies, receiving informed consent, conducting study procedures and the collection of baseline and follow up data in accordance with ICH GCP.

Main duties of the job
Screen & identify patients eligible for clinical trials and to maintain detailed knowledge of the protocols for the clinical trials associated with the designated site-specific groups.
Provide verbal and written information and to offer support to patients and carers for the duration of their involvement in a clinical trial. To assist in the informed consent process, receiving informed consent where appropriate. To be a point of contact for patients and carers for the duration of their involvement in a clinical trial.
With appropriate training, to take and process clinical samples (e.g. blood samples) for studies, co- coordinating tissue sample collection and dispatch to relevant department or trial centre as appropriate.
Assist in the provision of background information about potential clinical trials to obtain approvals from Research Governance and Local Ethics Committees.
Working in conjunction with research clinicians, nurses, pharmacists and other support staff within the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust
To work at all times according regulations as described in ICH Good Clinical Practice and EU Directives, and to the most current guidance relating to Research Governance and Research Ethics in each Trust.
Participate in the informed consent process, CRF completion, safety reporting, protocol compliance, monitoring and auditing of clinical trials.

Qualification/Training
Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse
* Post graduate level qualification/courses or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of CPD and maintenance of PDP
* Willingness to undertake training as appropriate for role
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
* Substantial experience at Band 5 or above
* Experience of working with patients and families within relevant clinical areas in the NHS environment.
* Evidence of research activity
Desirable criteria
* Experience of running concurrent research studies in a healthcare setting with minimal supervision/clinical trials experience
* Experience related to information retrieval and research application
Skills
Essential criteria
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work cross boundaries integrating with multidisciplinary staff
* Ability to make clinical judgments regarding patient needs where appropriate
* Ability to work autonomously using own initiative, and as a member of a team.
* Computer literate with Microsoft Office software (including Word, Excel)
