About the role
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Medical Technology (MedTech) within the School of Engineering. The role is focused on establishing an independent base for research and research‑inspired education in biomedical imaging and artificial intelligence, with relevance to medical and healthcare technologies. The post holder will predominantly contribute to the Biomedical Engineering Research Group and has the potential to collaborate with colleagues in Digital Manufacturing and Management and Mechanics of Materials depending on research focus.
Responsibilities
* Establish an independent research base for biomedical imaging and AI.
* Contribute to the Biomedical Engineering Research Group and collaborate across research themes.
* Teach undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programmes as required.
* Supervise student research projects and develop new and existing taught provision.
* Carry out appropriate administrative duties and support outreach and recruitment activities.
* Support the effective academic and operational functioning of the School and the wider University.
Requirements
* Good first degree in engineering, science or applied mathematics.
* PhD or equivalent research or industrial experience in a relevant field such as medical or healthcare technologies or medical devices.
* A developing or established track record of high‑quality research publications.
* The ability to plan and deliver a substantive research programme, including the preparation of competitive funding proposals.
* Willingness to work towards professional registration and a recognised academic teaching qualification.
* Effective educator with experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and the ability to contribute to curriculum development using appropriate teaching approaches.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage competing demands, and capacity to work collaboratively within an academic environment.
