Director of Highways & Infrastructure
£115,000 plus a generous benefits package
This leading multidisciplinary group of Engineers and Planners are keen to make a key appointment within their Infrastructure business which continues to win and deliver some exceptional projects.
The Technical Director & National Service Line Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic, technical, and growth of the Highways & Infrastructure discipline within group. The role leads national service line strategy, ensures technical excellence, drives business growth, and oversees the delivery of high quality engineering solutions across all sizes of highways and infrastructure projects.
The position requires a strong mix of leadership, client engagement, technical authority, commercial acumen, with a focus on developing a high performing team and ensuring consistent national delivery standards.
In more detail the Discipline Lead will focus on:-
Highways & Infrastructure ROLE KPIs, Innovation and develop smart products that maximise commercial value to the business.
Ensure that initiatives become part of mainstream practice by actively marketing these to existing and prospective clients.
Technical Excellence
Scan for relevant change & lead response. `Go to` expert nationally - recognised both internally and externally. Most importantly enhance the group`s reputation for smart/pragmatic advice.
Project Delivery
Oversight of discipline-related projects nationally; acting as PD where necessary as well as focus on ensuring discipline overlaps are recognised & managed.
Compliance
Scan for & resolve risks to the group within national service line. Role model compliance.Collaborate to ensure work and resource allocated to meet deadlines & financial targets.
Delivering Profit
Manage performance of discipline. Work with PDs to ensure overall profitability of workstreams. Understand implications of varying from standard rates for project work, and how to
manage this risk.
Winning Work
Understand & engage with national market including key clients, competitors & opportunities. Contribute to common BD strategy & create/deliver aligned strategy for national discipline.
Visible around the business & actively collaborate with senior colleagues to exploit opportunities.
Lead delivery by senior colleagues.
Leading on `People Development` and demonstrating real leadership strategy.This will focus on defining and implementing the national strategy for the Highways & Infrastructure service line, aligned with the consultancys vision 27 business plan and growth objectives.
Lead service line planning, forecasting, and capability development across UK offices.
Shape the future technical direction, driving innovation, digital engineering, and best practiceadoption.
You will also be technical strong and seen as a technical authority for the business providing technical governance, assurance, and oversight on major bids and complex projects.
Champion design excellence, safety in design, and compliance with UK standards (DMRB, MCHW, TSRGD, etc.). As well as represent the consultancy at industry events, technical panels, and professional groups.
For your part you will have:-
Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in highways, transportation, or civil infrastructureengineering within a UK consultancy environment.
Proven track record in senior leadership roles such as Technical Director, Discipline Lead, orPractice Lead.
