Job Title: Senior Network Services Engineer Location: Farnborough (Hampshire) UK Office (Hybrid) Job Description: A leading company in lawful and location intelligence is looking for a Senior Services Engineer with hands-on experience in installation, maintenance, problem management, testing, and documenting the company's portfolio of infrastructure supporting intelligence products. The role focuses on integrating the company's product set within telecommunication and law enforcement agency networks. The product set is deployed on Linux platforms in standalone, Kubernetes, or cloud environments. The successful candidate will be required to work onsite in the Farnborough (Hampshire) office for a minimum of 3 days a week and have a valid UK driving license, as this role will involve ad hoc travel to customer sites and international travel. This job requires security clearance or the willingness and ability to obtain security clearance. Duties/Responsibilities of Position: Assist other Engineers with advanced troubleshooting as well as testing new installation procedures and products. Responsible for field installation & support of the company's Products. Provide remote support to customer base. Assist customers with upgrades of hardware and software. Be the interface for New Product Introduction. Help customers with equipment configuration. Assist in scripting automation. Provide training on product operation, one-on-one or in small groups. Work closely with other groups to ensure successful and high customer satisfaction. Location, Lawful and Data Intelligence Products and Protocols. Participate in customer technical assistance troubleshooting conference calls. Manage the segregated local network infrastructure. Deploy and maintain remote connectivity to customer networks from the local support office. Maintain and enhance customer monitoring tools. Will be required to participate in an on-call rotation with other team members to provide 24x7 support to our customer base. Requires 25-50% travel (including domestic and international). Test, troubleshoot, isolate, and at times provide additional information to Engineering to resolve customer product issues. Collaborate and assist the Implementation Manager in the improvement of deployment methods and process. Document and provide knowledge transfer information across multiple groups within and outside of the company. Position Specific Competencies/Skills Required: Essential: Technical understanding of network and IT security. Manage process to successful conclusion. Experience with Tier 1 Customer Service Provider networks and associated live business-critical systems. Strong knowledge of IP protocols at packet level. Familiar with packet capture tools i.e., Wireshark. Strong ability to analyze log files and then follow the troubleshooting path to resolve faults. Strong knowledge of Linux Operating Systems (RedHat or similar variant). Networking fundamentals - LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls. Self-motivated, able to effectively manage time, and work independently. Excellent customer service skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Desirable: Broad knowledge of regulatory compliance. Some experience with scripting (Shell/Bash, Python, Perl or other). Any technical DPI or Packet Broker experience. Experience with mobile and fixed-line carrier-grade voice/data services, such as VoIP, IMS, 4G/5G data or Broadband services. Experience with encryption protocols (IPSEC, TLS). Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, Docker). Experience with Cloud Deployments. Experience with Kubernetes and containerized methods of deploying software. Exposure to Network Monitoring tools. Experience working as a team lead. Experience and Education Requirements: Bachelors degree in a technology-related field (desired). 5 years of experience in high tech, preferably in telecom and large system deployments. Must be willing and eligible to obtain a security clearance.
