Role Summary
To collect data regarding field failures. Investigate returned products in the context of available data (e.g., Zendesk data, production data) to determine causes and contributing factors. Build reports to highlight common failure modes and identify weaknesses in the product and drive improvement in designs, production processes, technical data and technical support of the products. Identify and report on any deviations or issues identified in returned products. Generally support the quality and continual improvement of products and processes to reduce field failures.
Responsibilities
* Triage and inspect returned products using a variety of methods including visual inspection, electrical tests, and functional tests.
* Report findings of faults, installation issues, user errors, or misreporting of issues.
* Check ticket information to ensure appropriate decision trees were followed and important information was not missed.
* Log issues and faults on triage forms; feed back information to TS manager and relevant production/manufacturing owners.
* Investigate production faults, installation issues and defective components; assess impact on performance/life expectancy.
* Monitor issues and logs to track high-priority, trending risks; perform fault finding and breakdown of failed units.
* Analyse trends to predict future faults and identify areas for design, training, labeling, or manuals improvements.
* Inspect wholesaler returns and determine replacement eligibility or report on issues found where returns are not warranted.
* Highlight any abuse of the returns process; contribute to quality improvements across departments.
Qualifications
* Understanding of electrical and electronic products (construction, design, application).
* Understanding of schematics and technical drawings and data; knowledge of component types and their characteristics.
* Experience in diagnosis and rework of electronic and electrical equipment; electrical test experience (safe working at mains voltage).
* Use of basic test equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
* Ability to work with tools such as soldering and de-soldering equipment; basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.).
* Good communication and report writing skills; knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes.
