Band 7 Occupational Therapist
We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our Child and Young Persons Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) 0-18 team. This role involves working with children and young people experiencing a range of mental health difficulties and providing specialist occupational therapy interventions as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
What we are looking for
* Essential qualifications: Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration.
* Experience: Demonstrable experience in occupational therapy with children and young people in mental health settings.
* Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage young people and families effectively; expertise in delivering a range of therapeutic interventions.
* Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and mentor junior staff.
* Commitment: Passion for working with children and young people in mental health and a commitment to person‑centred, compassionate care.
Main Duties
* Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to support service users in achieving their therapeutic goals and enhancing their independence in daily activities.
* Deliver comprehensive assessments, treatment and management plans focusing on functional and sensory needs for children and young people with complex mental health conditions.
* Conduct interventions that promote skill development in areas such as self‑care, school participation and social integration, enabling young people to manage the impact of their mental health on daily functioning.
* Actively participate in care planning, offering expert advice on adaptations and strategies to support recovery and promote resilience.
* Offer training, advice and consultation to colleagues, families and external agencies on the role of occupational therapy in mental health, helping to build capacity and enhance outcomes for young people.
* Contribute to the development and pathways of the wider occupational therapy service within CYPMHS.
* Contribute to service development and innovation, ensuring that the occupational therapy service is evidence‑based, cost‑effective and aligned with best practices and CYPMHS guidelines.
