The Brecknock Society is an established county history society focusing on the appreciation and study of the history and culture of Brecknockshire. We are seeking an Honorary Treasurer to ensure the financial affairs of the Society are conducted properly and in accordance with Charity Commission requirements. The Treasurer is a volunteer trustee of the charity.
Key responsibilities
1. Manage day-to-day financial matters, such as prompt payment of bills (room hire, speakers, etc.) and deposit of cheques/cash collections.
2. Provide regular reports on the Society’s financial position to the Executive Council (EC).
3. Complete gift-aid return to HMRC.
4. Liaise with the Society’s banks.
5. Coordinate with other officer trustees (Council Secretary, Membership Secretary, Programme Secretary, and Editor of the Society’s journal Brycheiniog) to support their roles.
6. Oversee the Society’s policies on Expenses, Donations, and Grants.
7. Prepare and scrutinize annual accounts for the Society’s AGM.
8. Attend four Executive Council meetings annually, and participate in periodic online meetings with officer trustees.
